Google vient de publier son nouveau kit de développement pour Android, le système d'exploitation Linux pour PDA et téléphone portable. Ce SDK intègre une grande variété d'outils destinés à développer des applications, à dessiner des interfaces utilisateurs et à rechercher les bugs. Outre de nouvelles API, on trouve aussi Android Virtual Devices (AVD), un émulateur de test offrant pour chaque produit son propre espace de stockage, ceci afin de réaliser des tests sur de multiples produits en même temps et non les uns après les autres. Ce SDK propose aussi un plug-in pour l'IDE Java Eclipse qui aidera à générer les ressources XML (comme les animations ou les menus), les couches alternatives et à exporter et signer vos applications pour la distribution. Évidement, du coté purement utilisateurs, Google a intégré beaucoup de nouveaux effets et animations destinés à rendre encore plus attrayant son système d'exploitation pour mobile. L'éditeur comble aussi des manques en ajoutant, enfin, le mode Bluetooth, un clavier virtuel, une acquisition vidéo et une meilleure intégration de ses propres outils (Picassa, GTalk, etc). Ce nouveau SDK intègre de nouveaux paramètres relatifs à la téléphonie (comme la force du signal) de nouveaux modes de visualisation des éléments ainsi qu'une nouvelle version de Webkit. Enfin, cette nouvelle version ajoute le support pour la VoIP via SIP, la compatibilité avec les terminaux NFC (Near Field Communications), la gestion de gyroscope et autres accéléromètres ainsi que le support de plusieurs caméras pour la viso notamment.
